There’s a chance to pick up good quality furniture, household items and toys at rock bottom prices by heading to a Reuse Pop-Up Shop coming to Telford next month.

Latest update from Telford and Wrekin Council Newsroom:

There will be large items such as coffee tables, bookcases and dining chairs on sale as well as pictures and vases and other items for the home. A selection of toys, games and baby items will also be on sale. Some items will be as little as 10p and no more than £20. Plus, local charity Bikes 4 Change will be there with some brilliant refurbished bikes for adults and kids at great prices.

The sale takes place on Tuesday 10 October, from 8am until 6.30pm, at Telford Theatre, Oakengates. It’s being organised by Veolia, Telford & Wrekin Council’s recycling and waste partner. The Veolia team has been saving good quality items, donated at the borough’s Household Recycling Centre at Hortonwood, in preparation for the event.

So, not only will bargain-hunters be saving pounds in the run-up to Christmas but they will be helping save the planet too. Plus, all proceeds will benefit local charities.

Councillor Lee Carter (Lab), Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Place (the Economy & Neighbourhood Services) said:

“With many residents still feeling the cost of living squeeze, I heartily encourage them to go along to the Reuse Pop-Up Shop. There will be a huge variety of items for sale, so whether you’ve just moved into your dream home and are looking for a table or chairs that won’t break the bank or if you’re hunting for Christmas bargains for the kids, you’re sure to find something.

“What’s great is that your purchases will be giving unwanted items a new lease of life. At the same time, you’ll be supporting good causes in the borough, so it’s a win-win event.”

Steve Mitchell, Regional Director for Veolia, said:

“We have always been surprised by some of the items that come into our recycling sites. Furniture, toys, games and more are often thrown away despite being brand new, even in their original packaging. Our first Reuse Pop-Up Shop is an extension of our reuse scheme that has been running for a number of years, but this event is helping us to save more material and reduce the amount of waste from the borough.

“The event is all about protecting our environment, as well as supporting our local community. Our two main reuse charity partners, Age UK in Wellington and The British Red Cross in Oakengates are supporting the event, with all funds made on the day directly going to their fantastic work. So please, come and visit us on the day to see some amazing items you can pick up, with prices between 10p and £20. “
