Who What Why
South Shropshire Climate Action (SSCA) began in 2019 and is a coalition of local organisations and networks concerned about the climate and ecological crisis. A Climate Action Plan for the South Shropshire area was written and launched as the “Next Steps Climate Action Plan” in May 2021. It looks at Land and Biodiversity, Transport, Energy and Buildings, Community and Education and associated actions to enable the South Shropshire constituency to meet its Carbon Net Zero target by 2030 and contribute to human and environmental health and well-being.
Appointed Project Co-ordinators support with:
- Co-ordination, so that organisations and networks are working together to transform South Shropshire into a net zero carbon society
- Collaboration, including joint lobbying of policy makers on issues, developing and sharing resources, creating coalitions for joint bids to funding bodies
- Communication, sharing best practice and promoting local exemplars, including toolkits and informative videos and promoting local events that contribute to the zero-carbon agenda.
