Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty (AONB) in partnership with South Shropshire Youth Forum have recently secured National Lottery Heritage funding for their Young Rangers project. Encouraging 12-16 year olds to take part in a range of conservation, outdoor discovery and heritage activities around the Shropshire Hills AONB.

In addition to the school aged project a new Youth Voice for Nature project is being launched for 17-21 year olds. With both projects running side by side, there will be opportunity for all young people to get involved and get inspired to look after the countryside around them.

Youth Voice for Nature is designed for any 17-21 year olds living near or in the Shropshire Hills AONB and who would like to be involved in helping conserve it.

There will be monthly working groups and meetings to explore local environmental issues, with opportunities to develop leadership skills and environmental knowledge.

There will also be opportunities to take part in projects (chosen by the group) and help represent young people in wider Shropshire Hills AONB decision making.

The group officially launches on Monday 5th July online at 7:30pm.

If you or someone you know would be interested, get in touch via their website, get in touch via email, or follow the group on Instagram to see how they get on.

A great opportunity to learn new skills and have a chance to make a difference in protecting a beautiful part of Shropshire rich in biodiversity.
