South Shropshire Climate Action group have secured funding for a full time fixed term position for a Project Coordinator.

This exciting role is a full-time equivalent but job-share applications would be considered.

“Formed in 2019 this group has coordinated the research and writing of ‘Next Steps’, the first Climate Action plan written for a constituency, a rural area in South Shropshire linked by seven market towns. ‘Next Steps’ is organised into four major themes: Land and Biodiversity, Transport, Energy and Buildings, Community and Education and significant work is already underway. There is considerable scope to do much more for the area to become Net Zero by 2030. We need to promote the report’s findings and seek ways to develop and support the development of the practical projects identified.

Key responsibilities

  • Inspire, support and cajole people to take action, providing motivation for involvement across our communities;
  • Provide a central point of contact responsible for coordinating, resourcing and supporting the theme groups in putting relevant recommendations into action on the ground;
  • Promotion and delivery of ‘Next Steps’ as a positive route to a just transition to zero carbon;
  • Devise an optimised communication program to ensure a wide range of audiences know about South Shropshire Climate Action’s activities, successes and needs; both originating and eliciting contributions;
  • Understand and develop the role of volunteers, bringing out the best and eliciting high quality contributions from diverse participants.”
