What
From November to March we’ll be working at Bardon Hill to manage a range of woodland & heathland habitats for the benefit of many different wildlife species. If you want to learn about these habitats and how to care for them & the wildlife they support, this is a great opportunity to join in with our experienced staff and volunteer community! 🙂
All volunteer tasks will run from 10am – 3pm, and mainly involve a range of woodland management activities as well as working to conserve the area of heathland designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
For those wanting to come but haven’t been to Bardon Hill before, please note that it is an active quarry site and we have to adhere to safety requirements. Hi-vis clothing is required which we will provide for anyone needing some, and steel toe-capped boots for all staff & volunteers are also needed. The car park for volunteers can be found by entering the quarry site just off Whitwick Road coming out of Copt Oak at grid reference/What3Words SK 48027 13156 & ///lawyer.nozzle.geology and following the track to SK 46179 12821 & ///waged.exploring.bought where we will all meet before going to the work area.
We can pick up & drop off volunteers at Chiswell Drive in Coalville at 9:30am, so just let us know if you need a lift so we know to expect you.
