Generation Zero Carbon Shropshire is a collective of young Shropshire-based people. Their hope is to encourage everyone in the County to help achieve the necessary conditions to reduce emissions to net zero by 2030.

The group was founded by a small team of young adults aged 18-26 and has been growing in membership even before its official launch date on April 22nd – Earth Day 2021.

Their aim is to create a space where young people can be part of the transition to a zero-carbon economy and the protection of our planet by empowering them to push for changes and have a positive, transformative impact on their own community.

Young people today are growing up in fear of a future of climate breakdown; a future comprised of drought, food shortages, extreme weather events and mass extinction of species. The situation seems so bleak it’s easy to forget that we still have time to turn it around and prevent such catastrophe. Generation Zero Carbon Shropshire gives young people an effective and meaningful way to engage with the biggest threat of our time. It’s essential that we do not give up hope; the value of taking action to transform our own community, our own small patch of the world, cannot be underestimated.

Get Involved

Generation Zero Carbon Shropshire are looking for young people in the county who are keen to help them in their mission to tackle the county’s emissions, and welcomes people from all walks of life. With plans to get involved in everything from re-wilding and community events to working with local businesses, there is a role for any young person who is interested.
