Autumn is a stunning time of year to see all the autumnal colours of the trees, so wrap up for the weather and get out there with a choice of activities, walks and events as part of our Green Spaces Are Go campaign.
Latest update from Telford and Wrekin Council Newsroom:
There are great health benefits of being active outdoors in nature and our Green Spaces Are Go campaign has been encouraging people to be active with a host of free walks, activities and events in our parks and nature reserves. Just because the temperature is dropping it’s no excuse for not getting out there.
Through Green Spaces are Go the Council has funded not for profit organisations to hold activities since April and there is still a great programme of free events to get involved with until the end of December.
Some of our highlight events;
Later this week Telford Libraries are launching their free interactive Bench To Bench Walk, that shares the adventures of Tommy and Tilly written by Sal Tonge. Sal will be performing her rhyme for families live on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 November around Telford Town Park, with a choice of times on each day. Book your place go to the website.
Travel Telford are providing three Glow Rides for Green Spaces Are Go, each with a different theme. The first one is on 1 November and is Halloween themed and sold out really quickly. The other two are planned for;
Thursday 20 November with Be Bright, Be Seen theme. Wear your brightest clothing and reflective gear so we can shine as we ride around some of our local green spaces.
Tuesday 19 December which will be a Christmas themed Glow ride. Dress up in Christmas jumpers, Santa hats and decorate your bikes with tinsel and lights for this festive cycle ride.

If local history is more your thing, there are a series of walks starting at the Guildhall in Newport or in and around Lawley. Join a free guided walk as part of the Green Spaces Are Go programme for fresh air, exercise, good company and to learn more about the local area. For more information go to the events list on the Green Spaces Are Go Website. These walks can also be self-guided, see information on the website.
Councillor Kelly Middleton Cabinet member for healthy, safer & stronger communities and partnerships said “The Green spaces Are Go programme has so many choices and activities to be active that you’ll be able to find something for you, with options for all ages.
Being active in green spaces and the natural environment can boost wellbeing, reduce stress, anxiety and depression and promote happiness. Telford and Wrekin is perfect for green space exercising as we have 23 nature reserves and more than 300 green guarantee sites available for free to all.
I encourage you to use our parks and green spaces as they offer walking trails, outdoor gyms, multi-use games areas, play areas and much more.”
