Tin foil – rinse, reuse, repeat

Aluminium foil is a staple of most peoples kitchen drawers. However, how many of you use it and then throw it away?

Tin foil can be a great tool in the kitchen at time, it can seal dishes in the fridge, line baking trays, or wrap sandwiches ready for lunch. It can basically do the same as most tuppaware plus more!

Stop throwing your tin foil away!

Did you know as long as you don’t tear it tin foil can be used over and over again. You can wash under a tap and reuse, you can even put it in the dishwasher if you use one! (just weigh it down with something on the top shelf). If it has been squished into a ball, just unroll and flatten it out. As long as you have a flattish piece with at least one clean side, it can be used multiple times before you need to get the new roll out of your cupboard again.

When it eventually does become ripped or too small to use, it can make a great pot scrubber for the dishes. Once it is past all use it can then be recycled in your kerbside collection bin with your tins – just make sure it is clean first to give it the best chance for being recycled.

So best option – don’t use it at all unless needed, but if needed at least give it the multiple use opportunity that it is intended for.
